Why Are You Getting This Report?
You receive this weekly report because you activated iCopyright Article Tools + Syndication on your website. This six-in-one tool allows you to syndicate, source, share, promote, track and sell articles on your website.
What Data Is Reported?
This section of the report shows how many articles were viewed on your site, how many times visitors clicked on the toolbar, how many permissions requests were received, and the number and dollar amount of articles that were licensed from your site. When visitors to your site shared your articles with others, you will also see a graph indicating how your articles were shared over the last 7 days, i.e. via print, email, posting, or republishing. Additionally, the Top 10 Most Popular Articles for the week are also listed.
Not Getting Any Data?
You may not be getting any data if the Article Tools are not implemented properly, or if you are not publishing any new articles (or posts). And of course, if your site is not getting much traffic, or visitors are not viewing your articles or using the tools to share them, you won’t be getting any data.
How Can You Improve Clicks, Sharing and Sales of Your Articles?
First, make sure the iCopyright toolbar is clearly visible at the top of each article on your website. If you are only using the bottom copyright notice, you won’t see as many click-thrus. You can control the placement of the toolbar from within your content management system’s administrative console. IMPORTANT: Remove any existing email, print, or share buttons you may have on your site. Multiple buttons confuse users and lower usage. Additionally, remove any conflicting copyright information you may have posted regarding use of your content. The tool bar provides users with your copyright information and proper ways to use your content.
Second, be sure to upload your site logo, so that when visitors click on the toolbar, they visually connect your site with your sharing and licensing options. You can upload your logo using your iCopyright Conductor administrative console. There are two types of logos you can upload. Under Publisher from the top menu in Conductor you can upload a publisher logo that will display at the bottom of the licensing menus and at the bottom of all pages of licensed content. Under Publications you can upload a publication logo that will display at the top of the licensing menus and at the top of all pages of licensed content. If you have just one logo for you site, we recommend uploading it as a Publication logo.
Third, upload your Google AdSense Script into your iCopyright Conductor administrative console. When visitors to your site share your articles, YOUR ads will be displayed and you can make money when they are clicked. If you use a different ad network than Google, no problem. Send an email to publishers@icopyright.com and we will help you configure ads from the network you use.
Fourth, adjust the sharing (free uses), sales (paid uses), and pricing options to suit the needs of your audience. You can do this by signing into your iCopyright Conductor administrative console, then clicking on Publications on the top menu, and then Services from the left-hand menu. Follow instructions for making adjustments. Contextual Help (from the top menu) is always available. If you are not getting leads or licensing sales, try lowering your prices. Note: All prices are expressed in U.S. Dollars.
Finally, if you don’t have much content, add fresh content to your site by syndicating content from other sites. We call this “sourcing” articles. Did you know that when you source content from other sites to publish on your site, you receive a percentage of any licensing sales? Fresh, relevant content helps attract new traffic to your site and helps to promote your products and services. And now you can make money by reselling those articles to your visitors. To source content from other sites, sign in to your iCopyright Conductor administrative console and click on Syndication on the top menu and then select Feed & Tag Syndication.
