iCopyright has released a significant upgrade to its popular instant licensing service. The release features a new user interface and expanded functionality. The upgrade was undertaken to increase end user engagement and license completions. The UI redesign was led by an experienced usability testing and design firm based in Seattle. Independent UI testing was conducted for the new design and dramatically increased clicks and completions of all the licensing services.
One of the new features allows users to preview the services before selecting them. The previews show users the difference in quality between the various options, such as the difference between Free Prints, Instant Prints, Delivered Prints, and Customized Prints. This helps pre-qualify users based on their budget and prompts them to complete the service that best meets their needs. Publishers can upload their own samples of customized reprints and eprints and can modify the descriptions of each of the previews in their iCopyright Conductor Console.
STORY UPDATE, SEPTEMBER 14, 2009
In comparing end user clicks and completions between April 14 and Sept 14, 2009 with those of the same period last year, the numbers had doubled -- and for some services -- they had tripled. This means that more users are clicking on the iCopyright Article Tools rather than cutting and pasting content without permission. It also means that more of those users are completing the licensing process.
