Cygnus Business Media Deploys iCopyright on 60 Web Sites
Enables instant licenses, reprint ordering and ad-supported permissions
SEATTLE, Washington, September 18, 2007 -- Cygnus Business Media, Inc., a leading diversified business-to-business media company, announced today it has deployed the iCopyright suite of web-based licensing and permissioning tools for users of more than 60 web sites.
With these new content tools in place, users of web content in publications such as Airport Business, Firehouse, Law Enforcement Technology, and Frozen Food Age, may quickly obtain permissions for legal reuses of copyrighted content by clicking on iCopyright tags embedded in each article, or order custom reprints and e-prints online.
Announcing the new relationship, Mike O’Donnell, iCopyright Founder and CEO said, “Cygnus has long been a leader in producing trusted editorial content for numerous business and professional specialties. Now Cygnus has taken a leadership position in the information industry, making its copyrighted content available to readers for a variety of reuses without burden, worry, or doubt.”
Corilee Christou, Vice President of Innovation at Cygnus, explained, “We have a significant amount of content that our readers want to use for a wide array of personal, professional, and business purposes. It is difficult to serve all these unique customers with personal attention day in and day out when what they want is usually quite straightforward and not costly to license. The iCopyright service allows us to define a spectrum of affordable reuse terms for each of our publications. Readers can now get the content they need quickly and confidently at reasonable costs.”
Ms. Christou added, “We looked carefully at other solutions for managing our online content licensing and permissions and we just could not find or build anything as flexible and well-thought-out as iCopyright. Not only does iCopyright offer an online chat feature so readers get instant, personalized help and advice—they manage that service for us as well at no extra cost to us!”
O’Donnell concluded, “Cygnus’s deployment is a model of “iCopyright Best Practices.” Cygnus will benefit not only from increased licensing and permissions revenues, but enhanced reader interaction metrics and reader service.”
