iCopyright Launches New Content Distribution Program for Web Publishers via Clip&Copy®
SEATTLE, Washington, October 20, 2006 -- iCopyright, provider of the intelligent copyright licensing system, has launched a new program for publishers that pushes their web content into the e-mail boxes of savvy businesses and consumers who track companies and keywords for breaking news and analysis with Clip&Copy®.
Clip&Copy, which was launched earlier this month, is a free news alert and press clipping service designed to extend the reach of content from thousands of Web sites while providing simple tools for managing the rights to copy and redistribute that content. Clip&Copy currently processes news feeds from the Associated Press, Reuters, UPI, and hundreds of business magazines and websites. Previously, publishers were required to enable the iCopyright intelligent licensing system on their own Web sites to enjoy distribution to Clip&Copy subscribers.
“The Clip&Copy service has become such a valuable tool for our users that we decided it was in everyone’s interest to open the channel to all publishers who can deliver an xml feed of their content to us, regardless of their status as iCopyright clients,” said Andrew Elston, Director of Publisher Relations at iCopyright. “Although Clip&Copy is free to users, we generate revenue by associating the content with advertising. We can share that revenue stream with publishers who are not already part of the full iCopyright service—and thus expose this content to even more revenue opportunities when the content is shared further.”
“The unique thing about iCopyright’s Clip&Copy service is that each piece of content is delivered with knowledge of the publisher’s copyrights and the specific rules for reuse and redistribution,” remarked Randy Marcinko, CEO of Marcinko Enterprises. “Not only that, Clip&Copy makes it easy for the subscriber to purchase additional copies and permissions when the content is deemed especially valuable. We are recommending this new distribution channel to publisher clients.” Marcinko Enterprises advises major publishers on licensing strategies.
iCopyright solves a problem that is common among online media: Allowing users to copy or redistribute desirable articles quickly and easily while protecting and tracking a publisher’s proprietary content on the World Wide Web. Without erecting barriers to content, iCopyright makes it easy for consumers of content to be respectful of copyrights and publishers to profit from their copyrights when users wish to share content with others.
