Syndication Report

Why Are You Getting This Report?

You receive this weekly report because you activated iCopyright Articles Tools + Syndication on your website. This six-in-one tool allows you to syndicate, source, share, promote, track and sell articles on your website.

What Data Is Reported?

This section of the report shows how many times your articles were viewed on other sites that have chosen to syndicate your articles over the last 7 days. It also shows your cost-per-thousand (CPM) rate for those views. For example, if your articles were viewed 5,000 times and your CPM rate is $5.00, you earned $25 for the week. This section also reports how many visitors to those other sites clicked on the toolbar, submitted a permissions request, and purchased a license to any of your articles. Additionally, if other sites have chosen to syndicate your articles, you will see a list of the homepage URLs of those sites.

Not Getting Any Data?

You will not get any data in this section if no other sites are syndicating your articles, or if there were no views of your articles on other sites.

How Can You Improve Syndication of Your Articles?

First, make sure the iCopyright toolbar is clearly visible at the top of each article on your website. Other sites can find out about syndication options for your articles and sign up to republish them through the toolbar.

Second, describe your articles so that other sites can find out about them and determine if they are relevant to their audience. Add a General Description of your site as well as Keywords and Classifications that will help our service properly categorize your articles and promote them to other sites.

  • To create or change the General Description, sign in to your iCopyright Conductor administrative console, and click on “Publications” on the top menu. The Profile of your publication will be displayed. (If you have more than one publication, select one to work with to display its Profile.) When the Profile is displayed, click on Edit these values and scroll down to the General Description box and enter text describing your website and its coverage. This description should be brief but compelling—it is what potential syndication partners will see when evaluating your content. Be sure to click OK when you are finished. Note: You’ll find additional information about your website and publication on this Profile page that you provided when you activated the Article Tools. If any changes need to be made to this information, be careful to enter it correctly.
  • To create or change keywords that describe your website, click on Keywords from the left-hand menu under the publication Profile and enter keywords that will help identify the editorial coverage you provide. Click OK when finished.
  • To create or change classifications that describe your website, click on Classifications from the left-hand menu. Select one or a few classifications from the menu and click OK when finished.

Third, adjust the CPM price for syndicating your articles to suit the type of content you publish and the intended audience. The default price is $2.50. Too low a price can be as negative as too high a price, depending upon the nature of your content and the type of sites that would be interested in syndicating it. To adjust the price and other variables, log in to your iCopyright Conductor administrative console and select Services from the left-hand menu under your publication. Under Active Service Categories, select Republish by clicking on [settings] to display the Republish Service Category page.  Select Get Syndication Feed by clicking on [settings]. On the Get Syndication Feed page, adjust the CPM under Feed Pricing. Be sure to click OK at the bottom of the page to preserve your change. Note: You can also adjust the Toolbar revenue split percentages on this page. We recommend leaving them at the 50/50 default.
